Just finishing up this fan art piece. This is the Sidestar Pistol from Bethesda's Starfield. I was really digging the unique look of this compact weapon. While the textures were minimal on this piece, I was able to really lock in on some of the small details in efforts to improve my storytelling through textures.
I created this using the high poly to low poly workflow. Starting off in Plasticity creating the high poly model at 1.7 million tris, moving into blender for the game res mesh coming in at just under 10k tris. Baking in marmoset then moving into Substance Painter for the texturing process. Using Illustrator and Photoshop to assist with some of the more custom alphas and logos. Wrapping the project up in Marmoset for the staging and rendering of the pistol.
I had a really great learning experience with this one, identifying some issues, resolving a few of them and making mental notes for others errors to correct next time around. I'm still early on in learning about weapon art so, if you have any feedback or just want to chat about weapon art I would love to hear from you!
